Passport, Visa, children

Concerning passport and visa issues, it’s worth stating that different countries have different visa requirements. To avoid any unpleasant situations, please be sure to check visa requirements for holiday purposes with the Thai Embassy or Consulate in your home country.

We age always glad to welcome families with children at Sawan Resort. But keep in mind that due to safety purposes we can allow only children aged 7 and up. Our Resort on Koh Lipe is built on a cliff-side/mountain slope that’s why we have age requirements for kids.

Health – Vaccinations

Seasoned travelers know that various countries of the world require certain vaccinations in order to ensure that travelers are safe. In case of Koh Lipe Island, you don’t need to worry. No vaccinations are needed. The Island is Malaria Free.

Many tourists also enquire about the medical care of Koh Lipe, Thailand. In case of any emergencies or health issues that may arise during your stay here, we have a qualified medical person on call.

What to bring along

Naturally, before traveling our guests try to check the weather forecast and decide what to take with them to make their trips comfortable and worry-free.

We advise to bring light clothes, like shorts and T-shirts, sun hats, sunglasses, swimming costumes or trunks and such. Don’t forget to take your cameras and sunscreen creams.

For those tourists planning to rent a vehicle, driving license will be very handy.

Cell/mobile phones

Koh Lipe Island has cellular/mobile phone reception and 3G (DTAC/AIS). Since the island is 70 km away from the mainland, connection might be slow and mobile networks may occasionally go down.

Sawan Resort on Koh Lipe provides free WiFi Internet access within the main reception area of the resort as well as the restaurant. Internet access in our villas is available for an additional fee.

Water on Koh Lipe

Those tourists that are used to drinking tap water should keep in mind that it’s not particularly safe on Koh Lipe, Thailand. Sawan Resort has its own fresh water plant. We story non-drinkable water there.

Bottled water is safer for drinking. Sawan Resort has complimentary water bottles available in your mini-bar, and also you can get water at our Restaurant and Beachfront Recreational Area. We are glad to take care of our guests and make their stay not just fun, but also safe.

Money and Transactions

The official currency of Koh Lipe Island is Thai Baht. Baht is subdivided into 100 satang and abbreviated as THB. It’s possible to exchange dollars and euros at the resort, but we don’t accept foreign currency as means of payment. All billing is carried out in THB.

At Sawan Resort we accept and prefer Bank Transfer. Keep in mind that VAT (Value Added Tax) of 7% and a service charge of 10% is charged for all the rooms/villas. This 17% charge will be waived when accommodation is booked and full payment is made in advance.

You can also pay using MasterCard, VISA and PayPal. Additional 3,9% non-refundable surcharge will apply for accommodation payments by credit card or PayPal.
